Two candles burn brightly for Little Man; the final touches to a cake steeped with chocolate. Wide brown eyes watch the flames flicker whilst we sing in celebration of the day.
He leans in with mummy and they huff and puff and blow together. As the two candles go out, wisps of smoke drift above the cake then quickly fade away, like the time that’s passed since he completed our little family.
Fidget dances and cuddles her little brother.
He laughs and claps eager hands, shouting “Cake!
We cut and share. His chocolate-coated face is smiling.
Happy birthday, Little Man.
